Hello all,

Like many on this board, i did some tests in dry paper with the TSX and it shows great dry paper ability (cutting sharp petals?). No other bullet can dig a bigger/deeper hole in my 30-06. In this media, bullet opens quickly and perfectly every shot.

In real life, a deer is way softer than dry paper. If you don't hit a bone or heavy tissue on a broadside shot your bullet have to open quickly.

Heard a story from the official at my range today. He shot a doe with is 300win mag 150TSX and had a dime sixe entry/exit. He found his doe 300 feets away. He said it was a perfect shot but bullet failed to open.

So my question is: Will a TSX fired by my 06 @3050fps will open most of the time on a deer or it is too much bullet? Distance will be under 150 yards.

Thanks!

I've seen the TSX in action on coyotes out past 350yds... believe me they will open up on a deer!

Now go out and kill something!!!

I just killed a moose and 32 mulie does with 168's out of my 300 win, the exit holes aren't that big, but they sure make a mess of the insides.

Shoot one and wait a few days to skin it, and then look at the damage.
I shot 6 more deer last year with the same bullet from a 300 wsm, awesome performance.

OK i'll go with the TSX.

Most testimony are positive.

I also reduced OAL to 3.320. WIll try it this week at range.

Thanks!

The worst dear bullet I have used to date.

30-30 preformance from a 7 mag, but it seems a lot of people on this board want that???

Not sure i understand. Do you mean your 7mm loaded with a TSX:

Lack of penetration or shoot like a rainbow or is totally useless?

I loaded some 150gr Barnes X bullets in .300 WM one year for antelope hunting. Thought I had found the magic combination of best weight, best velocity and best trajectory. I ended up punching through and through holes in more than one speed goat. For a while I kept a blood-specked pebble as a reminder to myself to shoot bullets that would open properly. Since then I use Ballistic Tips or Partitions, and avoid any "performance" bullets.

Same wound channel as shooting a deer with a 30-30.

Kills them fine but if you want typical 7mag results on deer (which I personaly do) don't expect it.

actually, I think it was the Triple Shock

but it is unfair to paint all X bullets with the same brush, after one experience

a little more detail about the 7mm/120 X combo's terminal performance, in depth, would be much appreciated by us, I think

Never had a problem with TSX expanding, my new rifle just does not shoot them well. My last one loved them, so did I. Bear, Deer, Moose, no problems with my 300 WM.

With my new rifle I have found that the Swift A-Frame works like a charm. Certainly not the same Ballistic Coefficient and the A-Frame does not have the long range performance, however, it mushrooms nice and is VERY devastating. 180 and 200 gr in my new 300 WM are awesome. Its like throwing a sledge hammer at 3000fps. Only real negative to the A-Frame thus far is the $$$$$ per box. About $20 more per box than the TSX.

Still, no objections to the TSX.

The principale of the TSX is similar to LE pistol ammo. It expands with nice, large, petals which end up rotating as the bullet spins. When the round opens up it creates huge cavitation, (carries a large shock wave), through the animal. As is carries the shock wave through, both solid and hollow organs suffer damage from said shock wave. This ensures lots of one shot kills.

If it works in your rifle, you will should be more than satisfied with performance on game.
