150gr TSX + Varget in 308

Assuming that you are wanting to hunt, I strongly recommend a different bullet for the 308. I have seen various Barnes bullets work extremely well in 3006 and up, but have a very bad failure in the round you are attempting to load. It was a reasonably hot 308 load, but not primer flattening, and an impact to the head(deer). The bullet did not open.

If it were me, Id disregard others experiences, load them .020" off the lands with a case full of Varget or RL15, sparked by a CCI BR-2 or F210M primer, in a case that fits the chamber well.

Should work pretty damn good. :)

150 gr TSX with 46.3 gr of Varget (compressed) gives me 2860fps. I got better accuracy with 165 gr Interbond bullets so I walked away from the TSX.

Varget is surely the right powder for 308.

If you went to the Barns web sight they have a free DVD. It is about the Triple shock. That gives reloading tips on how to get the most accuracy out of them. ie they suggest seating less than the .020.
