I think i've tuned a load in for my Remington 700!
Using varget, lapua brass, federal210 primers, and seating 20 off the lands,
here's the result.
(center is cold bore, remaining 4 in group).

Glad that's over. Now on to 300m

Thanks PGW Steve, Russ, Moe, for all the help!

Hey Medic,

After that very nice centre shot, I bet you were surprised as hell when the next 4 shots hit 1" high. That's about a 1.2" 5 shot group  .

For interest sake, this is a Remington 700, glass bed by a local, onto
a ram line stock. Don't tell anybody though. They'll all want one.
Kinda shows that good bedding, can compensate for a cheap stock.

I'm 47.4 of Varget, 2.925 OAL, FGMM 210 Primers, and Lapua Brass.
Tied to a 36x Leupold Scope (Awesome), i'm very happy. To say
the least I was bloody confused looking at this through the scope.
It just about looks like 2 shots were dead centre......and a flier. If I had one
more bullet in the same batch, it would have headed downrange to
finish the 5 shot group. And for interest sake, loading the cartridges up
for pressure, there were no signs up to and just past 48grains varget...

Gotta love this game.

With that powder load, do you have an idea of what your FPS is? would you say this is a hot or light load for the bullet weight?

2982 fps, as ssgp2 noted, there is a huge thread on this at snipershide,
which seems to have lead to my long development time. Seating depth
was my issue, once I found that, I just had to follow with powder. Not
that i'm trying to steal thunder from snipershide, or show that I personally
developed this idea, but rather, holy ####e, look what these things can do.

For the most part people have moved with cci primers, and 4064, for mag
length. But for f-class, single loading, varget has come out on top. If I
adjust the grains by .2 either way, the group opens to a loonie size. Crazy.

I would judge this to be a mild load, no signs of pressure even at 48.4
of varget, just crappy groups. I thank the stoney point oal gage, and
comparator for saving me oodles of time also.

Next stop, 155 Palma Match.

The CCIBR are the choice for Varget, in regards to mag lenght IMR4895 is the choice.

Instead of the Palma bullet, try the Berger 155 moly.
I have a friend who use it and says it beats the Scenar.

I feel the same way about moly, just a heads up to improve your accuracy.

Be aware that the Palma is the cheap way to go, it will perform OK up to 600 but after that the Scenar will surpass it.

I am editing my previous post, it is not H4895 but IMR4895 for mag lenght.

It's my intention to shoot 154's from 100m to 1000m this year, and burn
off the palma's (free stuff), for practice. No sense flipping back and forth
at various distances between boxes anymore :)
