158gr Pistol proj in 35 Whelen on Bailed pigs?

Guys, the question is , looking out for a fella I know, he is looking for projectiles to stay inside Pigs for Dog safety on Bail ups.
hes wanting to play with a 308 but a lot of ideas thrown around about modifiying soft points, hollow point cast etc......... but I thought the 35 Whelen... might hold the key.

what Velocitys are the 158gr pistol bullets coming out of the Whelens ?

Loads? can I use normal powder low charge with stuffing inside the case?

I normally use 2208AR , would 2207AR work? I use that in the 275bb. or I have 2206h here on hand..


do you think these 357/158s would would stay inside the pigs from close quarters?

Speer Reloading Manual No.12 load data for the 35 Whelen and their 158gr 38 caliber (0.357") pistol bullets. Haven't used these on game so it's a definite maybe if these would penetrate clear through or not.

I see IMR4895 which is Equiv to 2206H
and RE 7 which is close to 2207...... the different powders would vary differently in density an grain size no doubt, do I adjust the charge to roughly put out the similar velocity? as long as it isn't real low density , should be right
