16.5" XCR Barrel Length?

Okay, I looked, honest and I did not see anything as to why the barrels on Canadian versions are 18.6".
Is there a legality that mandates them for that for commercial import/export?
I am in the position to buy an XCR for a very good deal and have it built to my specs. is it legal in Canada to have a 16.5" Barreled XCR, so long as the OAL is greater than 26"(?).

I should add that I am looking at an XCR-L and I am currently living in Commiefornia and moving back to BC ASAP. So I know I have to do the import process, but I don't want to buy a gun that will have to stay on the south side of the border.

16.5'' would be legal here, but only as a restricted firearm.

18.6'' would keep it non-restricted, which is a bit less paperwork, and isnt limited to being used only on an approved range.

Damn, Gallen I totally forgot that they had to be 18.6" for non-res. I for some reason thought that it didn't matter as long as it was manufactured to that length so longs as their OAL was okay, like the 12.5" 870 bbls and the like.

OAL applies to single shot actions, not semi-auto rifles, hence the 26 OAL does not apply to the XCR.

Wrong. OAL applies to all action types. The 18.5" barrel length also applies but only for centre fire semi autos.
