Looking at a couple of options sub-$400 in 16" 223/556 barrels with mid-length gas. Need some help making the final decision for this build.

IRG has Wilson Combat barrels ~ 300 USD Can either be the light weight version or fluted heavy profile
CTCS has Rainier arms match barrels ~ 390 CAD These are heavy profile
Saskatoon Gunworks is supposed to be bring in more BA Hanson barrels ~ 320 CAD with gas block

Which one should I spring for? The rifle will be used as a general purpose rifle, 3 gun, cqb matches, courses, and service rifle.

Am I asking too much for the price? I'd like to stick to building just one rifle at the moment.

Thanks,

DDG

Personally I gravitate towards lightweight profiles these days. In the interest of keeping costs low I'd ask Saskatoon about a regular BA 16" lightweight. You could than add a FSB (my preference) or a gas block. They're cheaper than the Hanson barrels I believe.

I don't know if they do custom orders though. I asked him in the past to bring in a slickside upper, even wanted to put down a deposit. He said he'd do it but I never heard back.

Failing that the Hanson should serve you well and keep the weight down.

After years of owning a 20" HBAR I couldn't believe how light and handy a lightweight profile 16" barrel could be--I agree with Leg.
