I am trying to add the last gauge to my hunting collection and am having trouble. I want a either a over-under or sxs and no one seems to make a quality gun. I have looked at the CZ and am not overly impressed. What else is out there and what about availability.

Thanks!

You'd still come across some Browning o/u at this site.....

As far as sxs goes, you will find plenty of choices from the Basque Gunmakers - AyA, Grulla, Arrieta, Garbi, Ugartechea etc etc .... take your pick :)

Obviously, one'd have to skip through the usual import hurdles......

Good question. I'm not aware of anybody that stocks them in Canada. You can order them through most of the well-established dealers like P&D and Shooter's Choice.

Too bad that doesn't give you the opportunity to handle one before deciding if they're right for you. The other problem is that there's a minimum order threshold, so special orders can take months to come in, if you're one of the first to order.

On their site, Shooter's Choice does mention the possibility of having one or more in stock. Who knows, you might get lucky...

Nice looking SxS's. A little on the pricey side. Why not try an ad in the EE. Never know what you might come up with. You will never regret buying a 16 bore. They are terrific.

I dont know what definition you use for quality --- but there are plenty of older excellent 16 ga shotguns available- try Tradeex for example. I see several old Husky's that are very nice usuable guns for low dollars -- if you want new and expensive, that is a different case.

Look into Merkel and find out who is importing them into Canada or have one imported from the U.S. The 1620 would be worth looking at because it's on a 20 gauge frame and about half a pound lighter than the 47E. Check the Cabela's gun room. They got plenty of them.
