My son-inlaw is looking for a 16 gauge shotgun, prefers new one. Does anyone still make them? Please advise as to who or where to get one. do not think the action, single, bolt pump would matter. He just wants to get one gun in each gauge. hehe I reminded him about the 10ga he does not have......

The Browning BPS is the only 16 gauge repeater that I can think of that is available new.Ithaca is to have a new Model 37 in 16 gauge out this year.

Browning from time to time makes runs of their Citori O/U in 16 gauge.

CZ offers the Bobwhite and Ringneck models.

I owned a Bobwhite for a short time but ended up trading that as the balance just wasn't right. Every time I picked that up it seemed to me that I wasn't sure what I was holding :). Barrels were well regulated though and shot to POA. Never handled a Ringneck but then I imagine the receiver would be the same.

The BPS is the only currently produced 16 in retail sales. Keep your eyes open for a good used Ithaca 37 they are often traded on the EE at around 275.00. The BPS is a bottom eject like the 37. The 37 has a shorter receiver and over all handles much better.

regards, Darryl
