Does anyone out there know where I may find some 2 1/2" 16 guage ammo? I have tried Ellwood Epps and Wholesale Sports; no luck . I am hoping to not have to ream out the chamber on this gun.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Reaming might not even be an option. Why not just handload? I have to would up routines for 2 guns by fall - 2 1/2" 12ga, and 2 5/8" 12ga. Could go with 2 21/2" for both, but the 5/8 is a larger F&F waterfowl gun, while the 1/2 is a light bird gun.

Order them by the flat from Kent ... ( they also handle Gamebore ) or whoever handles Kent in your area.

The 16 ga. 2-1/2's are "Gamebore - Traditional Game" 28 gram ( 1oz.) 65 mm loads in UK sizes 6 or 7.

Pudelpointer, how old is your gun, and are you sure it is proven for nitro loads? Many older guns were made for black powder only, the excellent GameBore loads are built to CIP spec and are much higher pressure than black powder. Be sure and be safe.

Thanks for the input all. The gun is nitro proofed, just in 2 1/2. I will try the shotgunworld link and see if I can get them direct. Epps and WS both handle Kent (Epps claims to handle Gamebore as well, but still won't get me any) but to no avail:mad: . As for reloading, the thought of buying new shell holders for my ponsness-warren and cutting down all those cases..... well let's say I will leave that as a last resort.

As for reaming, can anyone recommend a good shotgun 'smith? Preferably in Alberta or interior BC?

This gun is going to be my grouse gun (if I can get a round through it).

Thanks for the replys.

Cheers,
Ian

I use a 20ga Belgium in 2 1/2 on Grouse. Bought Gamebore ammo from my local Kent representative. But buy a.s.a.p. since they order usually this kind of 'weired' ammo only once a year.

Have fun

No. Ream it and you earn yourself the beats.

Keep trying to find the 2-1/2" stuff. Try guys in BC like Reliable Gun and Tackle. They're big 16b nuts (I always blame Dave for my inability to find a nice 16) and I'm sure that they could point you in the right direction.
