Right now grouse mainly, and squirrels. Long hikes are ok I'm in great shape, just beyond clueless as to what to look for. I would like to get a white tail this season but like I said I'm a noob so one thing at a time. It's 100% all about meat, and the physical challenge of hiking in and hauling it out for me.
Gave up on geese for now because it's way too much of a production for 1 person and nobody seems to want a noob with them.
Is there any crown land an hour or so drive from Calgary, other than Waiporous? I am a total noob hunter and I am just not comfortable knocking on doors asking for permission. Seems so Jehova-like and I simply will not do it so I gotta stick to crown land. I been to Forestry Trunk Road last 3 weekends, didn't see one single grouse and I covered 10-12 km in all directions. So I think I'm done with that place.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Red squirrels may be hunted, but only on private property. 2017 regsRed squirrels, no limit/year round according to ihunter app. Nothing about trapped/shot.
