165gr 30-06 for moose...

FW; The 165 Gameking will definitely kill a moose. That being said, it would not be my first choice, since the Sierra bullet is a bit "fragile" should you hit large bone. A careful shot broadside through the heart-lung area will give you no problems, but if you have an angle to deal with, [say quartering towards you] and you need to get through heavy shoulder muscles & bone to reach the heart-lung area, I would not trust that bullet to reach the vitals. You may find they shoot very well, since most Sierra bullets are quite accurate. Regards, Eagleye.

A lot of people seem to have this comment about gamekings being overly fragile but i have not had the same experiance, but i also shoot heavy for calibre bullets.(150 gr .270win)

These bullets have always worked well even on hard to penetrate shots, but the 130 gr gamekings in 270 were fragile.

So 165's for 30-06 may or may not work well only one way to tell and that is to give them a try.

Kill a moose faster than the premies will because it expands faster and destroys more tissue. Also might wreck more meat depending where you put the bullet. If you shoot for the heart/lung a gameking is the bullet you need. It wouldn't be a good bullet for a "texas heart shot".
