Hey, I was wondering if any one are having the same issues. I have a rem 700 .308 in a Cadex chassis and a 5 rnd mag from Cadex. After clambering and firing the first rnd , the second rnd nosedives and the side of the projectile gets gouged. When I release the mag to check this I found that the cartridge is moved ahead in the mag. I have to push the cartridge back and then proceed. It sometimes may or may it happen on 3 or 4 rnd. Didn't happen with factory rnds. I'm guessing the recoil is pushing them forward but they're still fully in the mag. OAL is .2800 , should I make them a bit longer ?

This happened to me too, take apart the mags and clean them very very well. After that I haven't had issues in feeding other than first round (mag not seated correctly).

I just disasembled the mag and it wasn't dirty. Maybe something else?

None of mine were dirty, just taking them apart, and stretching the springs helped greatly. I haven't had the tilt happen since I disassembled, cleaned and reassembled. I actually took apart the new scout mag and found a little dust bunny in it..looked like it sat for years before I bought it.

I don't believe they're tilting so much, the second cartridge is pushed ahead in the mag and that for some reason won't let it feed. When I remove it ,it has a nice gouge on the projectile. I have to shave it off with a knife. Only the SMK though.

Are you sure your seating depths are the same after repeated exposure to recoil? If you have light neck tension your rounds could be changing seating depth under recoil.

Never checked that but the entire second cartridge is jumped ahead. The projectile is touching the front of the mag and there's a 1/4 space between the case head and the magazine . When I attempt to chamber the second rnd ( sometimes the third) it bites? Into the feed ramp , causing a cut like gouge in the bullit. Right around the Ogive. Now that I'm aware of it , I just drop the mag after the first shot , push the cartridge back and I'm good to go. But it is a little annoying especially when I get in the groove and forget to correct the second rnd. I was thinking maybe I'll change the COAL to 2810 or 2820, see if that helps.

Good day

First these mags are not Cadex mags but Accurate-Mags. We just import them in Canada to resale them with our chassis when the customer's need some. They are quality magazines as much as an AI mag as an example but again since it's not our production it's hard to control the quality of them.

Sounds to me like your feeding lips may be a bit too wide and the bottom of the bolt may drag against the top cartridge and you push it forward in the magazine. If you feel that too much of the cartridge hull is grabbed by the bolt face this could indicate that the magazine catch may be too high resulting resulting in the magazine sitting too high.

One way or another please contact me at patrice@cadexinc.com and send me your coordinates so that I could investigate deeper with you.

Best regards

Hello Patrice, I just meant that the mag came from you, not that you manufactured it. I haven't tryed any fix yet . I'm not totally sure it's the mag as it only happened with SMK projectiles. Nosler,Hornady projectiles were fine. All factory ammo was good also. The problem would happen with the second rnd mostly. About 90% of the time. What happens is , when I fire the first rnd and chamber the second it would dig into the feed ramp, so much so that I'm unable to chamber the rnd. The projectile would have a gouge , about 1/8 of an inch , just before the ogive. A horizontal cut? I would have to take a pocket knife and cut the sharp edge off.
