What are some of your loads in a 308 using barnes 168 TSX? I am working with a 18.5" barrell Model 7, so 2.83" max OAL.

I have all the bullet manufacturers manuals, and have info for several powders, but am wondering what other people's results have been.

pockets I tryed 165gr Nosler Acccubonds with varget my gun same as yours didn't shoot thhttp://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=393265em well
It liked these

44.5grains of varget at 2.8 parks bullet holes on top of each other just shy of 2700fps.

That's out of a 26" barrel though.

Good luck with the work up.

Jacket bullet date is NOT interchangeable with pure copper bullet load data.

It would be very unwise to use jacketed bullet data for pure copper bullets even if the weight of the bullet is the same ie 168 grain.

Just like jacketed bullet data can not be interchanged with lead bullet data.

Use the barnes manual or check on the barnes website and work up your load.

I've killed alot of game with that bullet and in my experience Barnes bullets are most effective when driven hard. If I was picking a TSX bullet to load in a 308 I would probably use the 150 gr and I would definitly start with reloder 15 and a federal 210m primer.

i chronied all the loads i tryed, imr 4064 and win 748 and was good velocity for most powders in 20 inch hunting weight barrel, my go to load is165 interlocks, 45grs, w-748 in a win case, win. primer ,2600 fps, and the brass lasts longer in my 99 savage, some powders i tryed , would go two firings, then evidence of case stretching was evident and i chucked the cases as not safe ,, wade

Just for info, ended up with 48gr. BLC2, Win case, Fed. 210M primer, 2.83" OAL, 168 TSX. 2616 avg. fps out of 18.5" barrel, .9" 3 shot group at 112 yds. 47gr. also shot 1", but 2565 fps. I know this is over the 45.5gr. max barnes says, but no excessive pressure. Case expansion at pressure ring the same amount as factory federal premium 165 Sierra BTSP, which incidentally ran 2577 fps. avg. Should be good to pound a moose with!! The only thing is that BLC2 is temp sensitive. Same 47gr. load ran 50 fps. slower at -3C, from +5C.
