I have a Winchester Model 12 in 16ga. plain barrel. It is all original. I am thinking of installing a vent rib onto it, and use it for trap shooting. Will doing this decrease or increase the value of this shotgun

Win 16 Gauge

I believe the value would decrease however, the right buyer will pay fair value.
Buying shells will be pricey for steady target shooting. I don't think you could reload cheap enough either, to make it worth while.

Check the present value of your gun. If it does not have a lot of collector value, go ahead and put on a rib. I have seen a 16 with rib and trap wood and it was one sweet machine. Without trap wood, I think the rib will make it a bedtter hunting all round gun.
Reloading for a 16 is not really worth while if you compare it to cheap 12 ammo, but it is very affordable.
That said, if you are going to do a lot of trap, you should have a 12
