.17 fireball model seven

Just unboxed it and looked it all over

the only thing I am not sure of is,,,,,
I looked at the barrel and stock and they looked fairly close together.....

I pulled a nice crisp $20 out and no way would it go down around the barrel and the stock
so i would have to say it is not free floated,,
what should one do from here

I dont think any remington bolt action comes free floated. Everyone I have seen has a pressure point the the end of the forend. What should you do? go shoot it, and see how it does. Why try to fix what isnt broke? if it doesnt shoot the way it should, then cross that bridge.

Shoot ir first and see what you get for groups. Many model 7's like forend pressure for some reason some do not. I have an early one in .17 remington that is fully free floated and will shoot half inch groups.

Buddy has one in 7mm-08 and we screwed with that one for weeks until we put 5 lbs of forend pressure on it. Now it is a 3/4 inch gun consistantly @ 100
peviously the best we could get was about 2" no matter what the load we tried.

If it is a factory tupperware stock it probably has a forend pressure point.
Unfortuneatly tupperware stock tend to be pretty flexable so can have inconsistant pressure on the barrel.

Some 700's come floated, not many though. Usually ones fitted with HS Precision stocks or Bell & Carlson
