17 HMR cases splitting

Hello,

I did a search on this topic and could not find anything on here about this topic.
I do not have the cases split all of the time but every once in a while the case does split and the case gets stuck in the chamber. What is causing this, this rifle a savage 93r17 GLV and it is extremely accurate.

Generous Savage chamber and maybe slightly brittle brass (winchester?). It's harmless although annoying.
 
yes it was with winchester ammo. However i thought all of the HMR ammo was made in the same factory (CCI) just a different stamp. But thanks for the reply i am very glad it is nothing major

It was only a good guess because there have been other threads here about winchester 17HMR. Try another brand.
 
We had a few split cases with the Winny 20 grain XTP loads... not really a problem... but since switching to Hornady 20 XTP's we have not had any splits... the guns are Savage 93's.
