17 HMR Question?

Does anyone make a semi-auto in 17?

I believe Remington, Magnum Research, Volquartsen made semis in 17HMR, but I'm not sure what (if anything) is in current production.

Yes Magnum Research does and also Remington used to make the 597 in 17HMR. I am assuming you mean 17HMR and not 17Mach 2?

I believe Magnum Research have stopped making the 17hmr. We have 4 of them at work. . .beautiful guns but we have had alot of problems with them. .. losing ejectors like crazy, and blowing the clips out the bottom. I don`t think you can make a good semi to handle the pressure of the round.

I am not possitive but Ruger made the 10/22 in a .22mag.... and I thought they did it in .17hmr as well. If they didn't you can get a .17 barrel and put it in a .22mag 10/22 and it will work.

They have stopped making the 10/22 in .22mag.... like 2 years or was it 3 years ago......

Thanks for the info guys. The Remington 597 guns have too many plastic parts for my liking.

Buttler Creek Makes A 17HMR Barrel For the ruger 10/22 Mag. The up side to going this route is you now have a 22.mag and a 17 HMR. 4 bolts and the barrel is swaped(That includes removing the stock)

Excel Arms down in the states makes both autoloading rifles AND pistols (as well as a 1911 conversion kit) in both .17 HMR and .22 WMR.

Baikal makes one as well.

Kodiak Arms said they would look into them, so go pester them.

Yah! I checked out thier web site. Nice stuff, but a bit pricey for gopher & ground hog use...
