.17 hmr scope

Previously had a Simmons cheepo 3x9x40 scope on my savage .17. It was ok I guess but I compare it to my Leopold vx1 4x12x40 which I love the glass is great. I have the scope on my .223 at the moment. Just wondering what ppl think I should replace my Simmons with? I'm trying to stay under 300ish dollars for a new one for my .17 or should I just put my vx1 on my .17 and put something better with more x?

I run a Vortex Diamond Back 4x12x40 on my Savage 17hmr. I love the set up. Very pleased with both the scope and the rifle.
17hmr is a fantastic round. Extremely fun to shoot and laser accurate. Enjoy!!

I have a Hawke Varmint 2.5-10X40. Very pleased with it for the money. Only wish is a bit more magnification since the .17HMR is so capable.

Vortex is your friend with a great affordable scope on 17hmr. I couldn't be happier. The no questions asked, lifetime warranty is a bonus as well. Certainly at step up from Simmons, Tasco or a VX1.

I have a tasco Varmit hunter ( I think its called) 2.5-10x42 with mill dots on my .17 HMR. I really like it and can shoot the centers out no problem at 100yrds when I was sighting it in. Now I want to try it on some gophers.
