For those of you shooting (or those who have been around others shooting) the 17 hornet how loud did you find it? I realize it's subjective but which common cartridge would it be closest to 22magnum, 22hornet, 223?

I tried one and found it to be about as loud as a .22 Hornet with the same length barrel,
but with much less muzzle flip....as in ####-all.

I can't see it being much more than the .22 hornet and it's a nice subtle report. But time will tell. I'm looking forward to seein what they do in a gopher field this summer. Was kinda impressed with the .17 wsm so the hornet will definatly be better yet

Its a little louder than a .22 mag but not as loud as my .222.

22 Hornet is one of my favourite varmint rounds. Think "varmint bomb". Low recoil, relatively quiet, and devastating results.
I had a mini-Mauser chambered in one, and I absolutely loved that rifle.
