I’m a leftie and I want to get a .17 HRM rifle. As a leftie my options are pretty limited. I can only find one .17 HRM dedicated for left hander’s: The Savage Model 93R17-GLV Left-hand. It’s a pretty plain Jane gun but I’m sure it shoots well and I like the accutrigger.

The other model I am considering is the Henry Varmint Express .17 HMR Lever Action Rifle. Is the ejection port, being on the right side, going to be a issue for left handed shooting?

Am I over looking any good options for left handed shooting with .17 HMR?

Ideally I would like one of these guns set up for lefties but I only dreaming.

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

If it's primarily going to be a bench gun, I don't think it would matter much whether it's a righty or lefty...you'll adapt to make it work.

I have a couple of Savage rifles, and I've been impressed with their performance for the dollar so far. The Accutrigger is probably the nicest I have ever felt regardless of brand.

I've also shot .30-30 lever guns before, and as a leftie, I haven't found the ejection port to be an issue. Same goes for a righty AR...haven't found the ejection port to be an issue to that rifle either (actually the one I shot was a full-auto M-16A1).

It is going to be a bench and field gun for sure.

I have shot a older model 94 .30-30 a zillion times but it has top ejection not (right) side.

Don't forget that the safeties are also on the wrong side for lefties on a lot of standard guns.

CZ! nice you cannot go wrong. The Savage Model 93R17-GLV I have heard of these yet does anyone carry them?
My leftie friend wants a 17hmr in a bad way but he is on a tight budget .
The savage is primarily what he wants $ wise and he would like the accutrigger...however any left hand model anyone has is always sans accutrigger?

I like my marlin 917vsf but unfortunate for lefties Marlin does not make such a beast.Great rifle for a great price IMO.

CZ makes a great product. If I was to buy another .17 it would be this one

Of course its not for lefties.
The CZ 452 would be my choice if I was a leftie and did not mind the premium price tag.

Good luck

I think Wholesale Sports carries the left hand Savages, i just bought a 93R17-FV from them, good service. From what I understand the CZ is top notch, but more pricey for sure. Savage=good bang for the buck.

Wish I could've gotten the lefty Savage. :(
None were available when I got my 17 HMR.
You'll love the Savage with the Accutrigger, sweet shooter.
Maybe I'll sell my righthander to my son and buy a silly sider for me now. :D

...like I said, Savage for best bang for the buck. But if your budget is more generous, then why not the CZ? I bet that if you buy your gun at a local retailer, like Reliable, they are going to have to order it in whether you go Savage or CZ anyway.

I bought a Savage 111 FL in lefty .30-06 from Reliable last month and it took a little more than two weeks to get here from Alberta.

I think the CZ in left hand bolt is worth waiting for! Got one from a sporting goods general store in Stettler AB in May this year. All I can say is WOW. Had to stop shooting gophers inside a 100 yards just no fun can't miss.
The 22 mag I have is no match for the 17. Granted the Savage model 93 is a lot less expensive than the CZ 452.

What I understand is that the .17 ammo is so accurate that it really doesnt make much of a difference what gun you put it through. Have I been given wrong info? Currently waiting for a leftie CZ452 22lr myself from Reliable. I am in no hurry though as I have lots of other stuff to shoot.
