Wondering if anybody out there has any experience with doing up one of these? I've read lots of stuff on the web on it. Looking for some first hand info
I've done three Mach2 conversions... I did the ER Shaw kit, the RT kit and the VQ kit... the VQ receiver with VQ bolt and charging handles was the most successful... had kabooms with the other two... sold my VQ at a profit (unusual) and switched to bolt actions for my HM2 shooting... which is what I recommend you do also...
I am currently running a Savage MKII and a CZ 452 American in HM2.
I already have it together just haven't fired it yet, power custom heavy bolt handle, green mountain barrel, stock receiver and vq extractor. Might up grade to vq receiver but gonna try this first
Fully functional and built on a stock Ruger WMR action.
I had a little trouble with the spring weights at first (and a lot of FTF's) but I pretty well got the bugs out now.
I started with one and one half RED Kidd springs.
I found it to be too light, not allowing the bolt face to fully close on the round.
I then went to one and 3/4 and started cutting loops off until I got it fine tuned.
The 10/22 receiver is aluminum and soft.
The 10/22 WMR receiver is steel, but certainly not impenetrable to kabooms.
Squeeze off 6 or 7 quick rounds of 17HMR and you REALLY feel it.
So far, so good......
