I saw a rifle advertised with a spare barrel in 17 Mach 2.

Is this a drop in barrel? Found out that yes it is

Does the magazine do double duty for .22 LR and .17 Mach 2? Found it too be recommended by a barrel manufacturer

So now the important questions.
Do you really need to add mass to the bolt in order for .17 Mach 2 to work properly?
Who in Canada is selling these barrels (in regular contour not heavy) and do they have the heavy bolt handle to add mass?
Will the rifle still fire .22 with the added weight of the new bolt handle if one is really required?

Somebody has to know something about this conversion.

I think that pretty much anything in .17 for a 1022 is next to impossible to find now a days since if I am not mistaken Ruger dropped it. It is the same for the .22mag.

As for the mass, you will most likely have to you can just probably get the .22MAG bolt rod which several places sell and use that. If you polish the bolt and chamfer the rear a bit then you should have no problem with the added weight.

As for people who sell the barrels in Canada, good luck, it is hard enough to get a regular 1022 barrel let alone a .17 one. You will probably have to get a custom barrel built. Would be easier to just buy a separate rifle in .17 and use that.

However try h ttp://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums look on there and you will probably find your answer.

just bought mine from P&D last week...not sure if he had anymore...it was a carbon heavy barrel and the weighted bolt handle...just arrived yesterday...very pretty.
