17 versions of the PX4???????

I've been spending a little time researching the Beretta PX4 over the last few days, and I'm a little confused why they are offered in 17 different versions. Ok, 17 might be an exaggeration, but as far as I can tell, there are AT LEAST 5 versions of the PX4 on the market right now. I know a lot of it has to do with various combinations of SA/DA, but why so many????

They wanted to make a pistol that was "customizable" without being a custom I guess. I think it's pretty shi*ty cause chances are if you find a dealer that has one in stock it won't be the one you want.
 
* Type F: Single and double-action. De-cocker. Manual safety.
* Type C: Single-action-only ("Constant Action"). Spurless hammer. No de-cocker. No safety.
* Type D: Double-action-only. Spurless hammer. No de-cocker. No safety.
* Type G: Single and double-action. De-cocker. No manual safety.
* PX4 Subcompact
* PX4 SD: Desert tan frame, threaded barrel

I don't see a problem, but I will agree with cam1936 when he says that dealers never have the model you want in stock. :(

over the last few years, the mohawk warriors is making a fuss right now, as they dont want armed guards there. quite possibily means they are doing something illegal and would not want their loophole to be closed
 
I tried a PX4 9mm F model at Beretta day at Target Sports. It was great. Very light recoil and super accurate. Best group I've ever shot out of a handgun of any type. Grips were very comfortable and the controls were easy to use. I tried it back to back with the inox 92F and felt the PX4 was far easier to shoot.

The F model features a de-cocker and you can even carry it holstered in a "half-cocked" mode for additional safety.

Overall and excellent gun. I'd recommend it as well.

If someone had a bad experience with it I'd guess they shot the DAO model. I personally can't stand DAO pistols of any brand.
 
The CBSA PX4 I've heard also has a "Magazine Safety Disconnect", not sure if that's available to the public....

Not sure which version the CBSA has though, probably the "F"....
 
They wanted it to be DAO, RCMP basically dictated the requirements. Ugly 10ish pound trigger pull every time to make sure the shots fired were intentional.

Smuggler: "10lbs?! Jesus! Of course I'll give you a head start, just let me know when you're about halfway."

CBSA: "Thanks, really appreciated!"

I shot that same one at beretta day and hated it!!!
i loved the m9 and the plane jane 92 though
Thats just my opinion though
 
As long as you want F model your are good to go. Stoeger had to order big to get them made with 106mm barrels and they chose F models. That is the only factory option in Canada. FWIW I am sure that it is not that hard to convert from one to another if you can find parts.
