Got the savage 17wsm... running 20 grain offering from Winchester in blackish box, better group than 25 grain stuff.. picked up some American eagle 20 grain stuff today... everything inside the box the same.... is Winchester making American eagle......... federal making Winchester...... Winchesters new 223 is very close to federal........ I am sure someone knows.....

All made by Winchester is what I was told, even the Hornady stuff!!!!
According to our Hornady rep ALL Hornady's rimfire stuff (22, 22WM, 17HMR, 17WSM, 17M2) is made by CCI (Federal) - that was why when it was hard to get 22's, it was really hard - only a couple places making the stuff.
Don't know where Olin gets their stuff from (themselves?), but do know that Hornady does not make any of their own rimfire at all - they send the "bullets" to CCI and they put them together.
