Could pellet lead be used to cast regular bullets. I always feel bad throwing out the smashed pellets from my trap.

To me casting your own pellets makes as much sense as making your own powder: Possible, but SOOOOOO not worth the effort.
Yeah, or reloading primers

I believe pellets are made from pure lead, so depending on what bullets you cast, they may work "as smashed" say for black powder balls or minnies, or you may have to add some linotype to harden and improve mold fill-out if bullets are for every other caliber/firearms. Read up in the Castboolits forum about alloying pure lead.

Too soft for many uses. ...However,
black powder and shotgun slug shooters are always looking for pure lead. I have used air rifle pellet lead and was happy when I got it.
Hahaha. Guys...it's not really about the cost. I could go out and buy 100,000 pellets tomorrow. I just like casting my own stuff....I'm kinda strange that way (and in a lot of others depending on who you ask) I just like doing stuff myself. Casting is a bit of an art form....I can't even draw good stick people, so casting is my little artistic niche I guess. LOL !
I've secured my lifetime supply of lead...approx 2100 lbs...in finished, usable ingots...they're in my garage...bought, paid for, made to size, DONE. Now I want to start getting the remainder of my lifetime supply of bullet molds together. I already have one for every caliber I currently own except my Enfield in 303 Brit and this Ruger 1000fps pellet gun I just bought. I'm going to order the 303 (.312) soon, and I figured I'd order one for .177 pellets at the same time if it exists. Experimentation is the spice of my life.
The Corbin swagging dies aren't really what I was looking for. I just want a plane old bullet casting type mold. I know getting the skirt on the bottom isn't really going to be an option unless somebody makes a mold like the Lee shotgun slug mold. Anyway...if nobody makes one, I'll just make my own...just a flat bottom with a pointed tip (that just happens to be the exact same angle that's on a #16 (.177") drill bit. Making the mold blocks isn't really a problem. Making and attaching a spru cutter would actually be the harder part.
If you are shooting a 303 Lee Enfield don't order a 312 dia. mould but rather the get the Lyman .314 dia one.

The point is most take it at face value and don't think about fact checking..
Yeah, pellets are pure, soft lead. Great for old school ML bullets, or for swaging.
As far as casting for a .177, it could be done, but what a PITA!
Better to cast some slugs, extrude them into decent sized wire, and cut that into sections to swage into something along the lines of the Sheridan type pellets. Their shape is really easy compared to the wasp-waisted Diabolo shape that most are. Making your own dies would not be too much of a challenge, even on a drill press, provided you were willing to muck about that way. Make a small step in the back end for a skirt to engage the rifling, and make the main body at bore diameter. A tapered punch to hollow out the back end would probably be a good idea too.
A lot easier to swage them on a reloading press than it wold be to cast them, IMO.
