17HMR, are they really that good?

I've shot a hornet and a hmr side by side. The difference isn't so much to be readily noticed.

I also have shot both side by side and I agree.

I sold my hmr-my M2's were doing the same job on gophers for 1/2 the cost-just paid $9.99/ box compared to$22.95/box yesterday. At longer ranges you just aim up a bit more. ( I know I know-M2's aren't that popular unless you have owned one.)

My thoughts exactly, I had one of the first HMRs in Canada and have had 3 or 4 (still have 2), they are awesome and I still shoot them a fair bit.
The HM2 is my favorite gopher gun by far I probably shoot it 4:1 over the HMR. I rarely shoot 22LR at gopher but still put holes in paper with them because they're so cheap and easy to teach with.

I had an m2 wasnt accurate at 100 bullets tumbling at 200 and at 200 the groups were huge. 50 yards was as accurate as my 452 in 22lr at 100 same deal. Needless to say didn't keep the 2 very long. Also very hard to fid ammo for especially now it has been years since I seen any. I do still have one box of 50 lol

exactly the rifle i want... but im a left haneded shooter and i wonder if its comfortable for a left handed shooter!?

Just buy the left handed version.

17hmr is nice and is accurate out to 150yrds but as soon as wind is involved that one hole group turns into 1-11/2" quickly and the same go's for 22lr. With that said just buy a HB 22lr and target ammo and you should be able to hit gophers out to 150yrds. heck I know someone that's shot gophers at 200yrds with 22lr and cheap rem gold bullet ammo. I own both 17hmr and 17hornet and would rather spend money on the hornet then the hmr solely because the brass for the hornet is reloadable.
