17HMR coyote

heres a couple pics of a young female my cousin shot yesturday with his savage 17hmr. He shot it around 1pm after my mom seen it walking through our back field. He said he stepped it off at 80 yards. The 17g vmax entered behind the left eye. She dropped on the spot, gave a couple kicks and didnt move. It really did a number on she, The top of its skull was all mush, shards of skull floating around lol.

with head shots and close range it will work consistently I think. With heart/lung shots and ranges between 100-200 yards, I dont think the HMR would yield good results.

I wouldnt shoot a yote unless it was in the head and under 100 yards. He has a 4-14x scope and that gun is deadly accurate. He shoots crows almost daily out at 100-200 yards.

I'm seeing lots of scat around, I'm going every night after work this week, I have to show him up heh

cci make's a 20 grain hollow point as well as a 20 grain FMJ might offer better results

just have someone with a 223 near buy incase it doesn't work

That 17 will do the job even if in the lungs I made a crowd pleaser with mine at over 300 yards, which was all luck but it killed it, it would run 50 yards and flip get up and run again until it finally died about 200 yards later.

doesn;t sound like you got the job done.

it suffered 250yrds longer then in should have. (one kick in the balls).
