A friend of mine bought a 17HMR yesterday. Ive never had a chance to shoot this round before and All i have to say is holy crap! That is such a wicked round. Couldnt belive the accuracy and the ammount of dammage this little round could cause. Damn. We fired at a 2 inch steel plate from 25yrds and couldnt beleive the results. It made a dent that looked like a drop of milk frozen in time. a perfect dish about 1/8t of an inch deep and about the diameter of a dime. WOW!!!
If you hadnt guessed I want one now. I would like to sell my rimfire and buy one of these as soon as possible.
I see there arent really too many competitors out there as well.
He bought a Savage 93R17. I was very happy with the preformance of this rifel and also the construction. Very nice.
I was just wondering though if anyone has a Marlin917 out there?
Found the trigger on the savage to be nice and crisp and easy to pull.
So far kick assed rifle.
Does anyone have anything to say about the Marlin?
Wondering since ive got a marlin 22 right now, I know the quality is there but wanted to hear some personal reviews on it.
IE hows the trigger?
Or even any info on the NEF Sportster 17hmr. Its so cheap is it too good to be true?

Or any suggestions on a better brand? I would probably buy a bolt action but if a semi is so good it would be considered.
Where did you order yours from?

One more thing i was thinking. The shell looks like a mini .223, any plans in the works on producing a scaled down ruger mini-mini 14?
If not there should be ! I mean like a youth model for adults.
Thanks

I have the Savage as well and am totally satisfied with it. From all accounts the Marlin is an equal so pick by what feels better to ya. If I was buying now I'd wait a bit for the fancy assed Savage model with the accutrigger.

If you buy a Savage there is a simple mod to make the trigger even better. Check our www.rimfirecentral.com for a host of information.

BTW. Make sure you get a good scope on it. A 3-9 just isn't enough. My Mueller 6-24X is arriving today but I was also happy with a Leupold 4-14X I had too.

I own the Marlin 17hmr LS
Very accurate at 100 yrds.I easily shoot dimes at this distance.Trigger is not the best so I instaled a Rifle Basix trigger in it and it made a big differance.

I own a marlin 917v, it shoots like a laser beam and I cannot fault this rifle.
It came with the so called "T-900" fire control trigger, which I ended up modifying down to a very light pull, I gave the stock a few swipes with sandpaper to complete the barrel free-float. I'm extremely pleased with it- $269 from Wholesalesports last year. Those who are welcomed to try it out at the range often end up buying this rifle, or at least the caliber.

The Savage is great too, so what do you like best: GM or Ford?
Either way- enjoy!

I'll answer any questions you may have..

I've got the NEF Sportster, and I love mine. I topped it with a Tacso 2.5-10x42mm Varmit. Even my neice, shooting for the first time, was hitting targets with ease at 100 yds.

Not interested in the CZ

Its a nice gun but soooo expensive for a poor college student.
I like the synthetic stock anyways. The Czs are nice but i know how
accurate the Savage is for much less.
Anyways after reading posts and other spots online I think i want an NEF.
THey look so good. Also i can support it with my left without putting my
hand on the clip.
I shoot target style.
