who makes a good cheap 17hmr kinda want it to be semi

Volquartzen makes a nice cheap one around 2500$...or find a ruger .22 mag that has been converted ( good luck).
they had a lot of pressure problems in the semi's. kinda outa luck there now. most of the ammo companys even say not to use the ammo in semi's right on there URL's
A bolt action however, Savage makes some good very accurate ones that you can get for pretty cheep. $300 roughly.

Some people say 17 hmr is destined to join the obsolete 5mm rmr it replaced.
Although there hasn't been a case of the 17hmr causing catastrophic FOB, it was enough to cause pretty much every firearms manufacturer to issue a recall for all their 17 hmr semis.
I was in the same place as you. After exhaustive searching I gave up on 17 hmr. Go 22 wmr if 22 lr doesn't float your boat. I did and never looked back.
