17inch Barrel to 10.5

I am new to AR's.

I have Smith and Wesson AR with a 17 inch barrel. I was wondering, instead of chopping the barrel, is there anyway I can buy a 10.5 barrel land get it installed?

What other pieces would have to be changed? Gas tube and Rail only?

Will it be cheaper than selling this AR and buying a 10.5 Norc?

With the right tools its a 15 minute job to change barrels.

Well a complete norc AR is the same price as a new upper.

Only thing you should need is barrel/gas system and whatever handgaurd/rail you want to use. (and vice etc to do the change)

What do you have for handguards and gas block?
Is it plastic and sight tower. Or railed and low pro.
We have 1o.5 bbls and low pro gas blocks flashiders ect

There was a time (not too long ago) when you could buy a complete Norc 10.5 upper for about the cost of a good barrel. Try North Sylva, ask if they're still bringing in just the Upper.

Cutting an AR barrel makes the barrel into a prohibited device, so not the best option.
This is stupid I know, but most gun laws are stupid and make no sense.
