18.5" M305 Vortex or Smith Muzzle brake?

So what should I get on a 18.5" barrel chop on the M305? A Vortex flash hider or a Smith Enterprise muzzle brake?

Personally, I love the vortex, and especially on an M14, but it's very long, as is the brake. Out of the two, I'd take the vortex, as it has a 'brake' function on recoil too, but really, you're adding a fair bit of length with those long muzzle attachments. For a shorty, a mini-30 intended A2 style flash hider is a nice touch, keeping the length down.

But then again, a vortex looks mighty cool, but as I said I've only had them on full length M14s...
