There is a sweet rem on the EE it has a 18" barrel and non adjustable butt stock...How can this be 'restricted' when a factory 14" is not ?????????????

Crasy s**t...Truly crazy....Yet 'Dlask' can push out pistol gripped 8.5" pump shotties with no problem,yeah its a semi... The new ruger 10/22 compacts come with a 16.5" barrel....Maybe they should be restricted as well......The 'laws' in this country really make a person shake ones head:confused:

I notice that most of the replies indicate a very good knowledge of the Firearms Act and its Regulations but for those reading these posts and not familiar with this topic, here's a breakdown from the CFC site:

Restricted firearms include:
  • handguns that are not prohibited;
  • semi-automatic, centre-fire rifles and shotguns with a barrel shorter than 470 mm (about 18.5 inches);
  • rifles and shotguns that can be fired when their overall length has been reduced by folding, telescoping or other means to less than 660 mm (about 26 inches); and
  • firearms restricted by Criminal Code Regulations.
Prohibited firearms include:
  • handguns with a barrel length of 105 mm (about 4.14 inches) or less and handguns that discharge .25 or .32 calibre ammunition, except for a few specific ones used in International Shooting Union competitions;
  • rifles and shotguns that have been altered by sawing or other means so that their barrel length is less than 457 mm (about 18 inches) or their overall length is less than 660 mm (about 26 inches);
  • full automatics;
  • converted automatics, namely full automatics that have been altered so that they fire only one projectile when the trigger is squeezed; and
  • firearms prohibited by Criminal Code Regulations

I have always considered myself (somewhat) C68 'savvy' but this ruling is almost comical....

Well if its a Remington 1100, the barrel length is technically longer than 18.5", this issue has been brought to the CFO's attention as we are in the midst of trying to have it reclassified.

Keep an eye on the following thread, I will update as soon as I receive word from the CFO.

This is news to me. I wouldn't have thought a rem 1100 was restricted. I just don't get it. I ordered from canada ammo a dominion arms 870 grizzly pump with a 12.5 inch barrel . NON RESTRICTED. Go figure . I guess i will wait to see if the rem goes non then. No point in getting one just yet. I'm trying to buy more non restricted these days , even though i belong to a club where i could shoot anything ( except prohib 12.5 , but that's another story) .

Rimfire aren't classified the same as centerfire.
