Currently looking into a new upper, I have been running DA 556 14.5" for local matches and it has worked well, but I have a lower and I'm looking to upgrade to something a little nicer. I had been looking at a 16" barrel length mostly, but I came across an 18" upper that I am intrigued by. At local matches the longest shots we make are 200-300 yards, but for the most part generally within 30-40 yards is the norm.
I know that a 16" is probably all I really need, but I also like the ability to reach out with the 18" if ever needed.
So my questions would be to those who have run an 18", do you find the extra length to be an issue in cqb type shooting, or is the extra length not an issue? Would it just be smarter to go with a 16", or are there other benefits to an 18"?
Thanks for any input :)

the only thing an 18" can give you over 16 is rifle length gas. This will make it a softer shooter in general terms. it will not add any accuracy. Accuracy is due to ammo and barrel quality.
I should disclose I run a 16" with no problems and would not want to go longer (personal opinion).
