Hi everyone, I have these 180g .308 TSX's that I bought for my M14s Norinco. I don't think those are going to work to well in that gun (Please correct me if I'm wrong about that) so I'm stuck with them unless I can use them in other guns. The only ones I have that resemble .308 is a .310 1944 Mosin and a .311 No.5 Mk.1

To top it off I paid $74.99 +GST/PST for these things so I'd like to get my money's worth and bag like a whitetail standing in front of an elk and a couple grouse bathing in some gravy right next to a fire.

Thanks for any help guys :)

Try them!

That's the only way to know for sure.

Many reloaders have shot .308 dia bullets in their 303's and mosins with very good results, some have not. I've shot .308 dia winchester PP's in two of my LE's and they group just the same as "real" .311 dia 303 bullets...

I have a Norinco M14 and read on another post somewhere that you aren't really supposed to use anything over the 168 grain bullets in them. A quick google search said something about the heavier bullets creating more gas pressure which can bend the operating rod, but I'm no expert, just repeating stuff I read.

I'll leave the .308 in a .311 barrel for someone else, but I'm betting it would work but give you lower muzzle velocity and crap accuracy.

I shoot .308 diameter bullets in my M39 with fairly good accuracy (5" at 100yd) but my M44 doesn't do as well. I have never had a 303 that did anything but spray .308's. Try a few with a starting load and see what the accuracy is.

You should only use 168gr unless you turn off the gas system and shoot them single action. There is a little slot on the right side of the rifle at the gas assembly. Turn it 90 degrees and you should be fine with the heavier bullets.
