Sooo gents.
quite on the deer front sine the culling saga, that wasnt? but ive been doing alot of local hunting, looking an stalking with the bow more than anything, a few mossed oppertunitys...but whats new.

thought it time to use one of these plain jane 180 btsp i got running in that short barrel 30-06, an my weak ;) varget loads..... i was hoping to bump a deer alas i didnt, then i lost my own dog... it loves to chase Kangaroos yeah.
an hour later i drov up to a vantage point , before i started yelling out, i had two deer pop up the ridge i was on and look suprised to see me... before i got a bead on one they took off, so i took that 1 bullet an popped 100m up the hill too see where they came from....
in doing so, i spot a white critter , milling around the 3ft tall weed found in old logging areas that has not been re seeded.....

i have 2-7 scope on the 06 , no binoculars , 1 projectile and im down my own dog........ i get a glance as it walked between a gap, yep it was a Dog.

decided to watch what it might of been looking for etc, an in doing so found a nice cut off stump, an a bit of a log jam infront with a perfect angling log to lean on..what a coincidence.

i scope it and confirm it is infact, Not my dog.
so the next confirmation needed is- Is it wearing a Collar? -

as best i could tell, No collar....

i pull that Abolt into my shoulder an im telling myself "one ffn bullet mate, do not fk this up- squeeezee.."

BooomppPPHHhddd,

the ampitheatre i was in , unreal echo with such Canon!

i hear the dog yelping a little bit, i note its location an run back to my vehicle(400m) away ,, drive around a K or so to the other side of the valley for a closer inspection and to find the bugger........... in which i did. it made its way under a log jam itself...made sure was dead and pulled it out....

wallaahh
approx 200m or just shy of Shot. happy Days for the Deer ahead!

Are there a lot of Feral Dogs down there?

from what I have heard from good friends in australia, there are packs of wild dog all over the place and they shoot them regularly.
One of them even has wild dog bite scars on his leg and arm from an attack when he was a young boy over 30 years ago now.
"they" say that australia has no land mammal predators but they do if you count the wild dog.

there is a few now makin a noise since the deer culllin continues... free food an lotsa mates.. thats down south.

up north there is ALOT, qld has big issues with em- cross breds tho

We shot some years ago while they were running my uncles cattle. A wild pack is nothing to mess with. She had collars and owners notified,( most were already on the party line waiting to see what way the rest went.)

the Dingo / pure version is not so agressive, rather shy- the cross breds, from people, are aggressive and pack mentality , can be dangerous. more Dingo down south than Dog, up QLD is different.

So i was able to send some BTSP into a Samar deer the other morning, poor placements didnt help.......... an This morning i shoot a nice big old mature animal with handlebars, front on face shot 20m an it appears i must of hit the nose an after alot of tracking, i havnt found it....yet

FFS.

Also chrono'd the 06 loads with 180gr w 47gr Varget............ 2640 2630 and 2560 ** neck tension issue -assuming - not phased close range poker.
an my 708 /140s was 40gr varget for 2640

Do you worry about your own dog with feral dogs around? I know they get bold when they pack up.

Wish we had a bounty for over populated critters here, id quit my job lol

man so hard chasing or targetting these mountain dogs!!

all of mine are by oppertunity.. im goin broke
