1847 Walker Replicas?

Four and a half pound monster. Buddy of mine has one. Don't know what make. Too much 'Josey Wales' for him.
Uberti makes one. Shooter's Choice, in Waterloo, Ontario, wants $470 for one.
Epp's is a Uberti dealer too.
Dixie Gun Works does too. They don't ship to Canada though.

I have a pair, 1 Uberti and 1 Armi San Marco, the Uberti is twice the gun when compared to the ASM. You just can't compare the fit and finish between the 2 of them.

I would normally agree with you on that, however, I was lucky enough to get an ASM that was lovingly refinished by the person I bought it from....Works great....But Uberti stills sets the standard, but they (1847 Uberti`s, and several revolvers that I would like to get), are difficult to come by....

Got mine last night, 40gr +1/4lubed felt+451RB+grease sounds like a start, cant wait to get to the range, if I have to say one thing the CFO is fast with paperwork in this case

Just shot my Uberti Walker and Dragoon revolvers last night with 25-grains and swagged ball loads. The Dragoon shot about 1/2" low at 50 yards, while the Walker put 4 out of 6 right on the steel gong, with two dropping about 1/4" low. I'll be upping the charge to 30 grains next time out.

Too bad these guns are such a nuisance to clean, or I'd be shooting them more often! What fun!:dancingbanana:

shot mine yesterday in the rain, fun to shoot and no where near as fouled as I thought it would be. Was very suprised at the lack of recoil. I will have to try again in better weather as the wind was blowing me all over as well. Found an easy way to clean the cylinder though, send the wife out for a bit and boil for 15 mins on the stove, came out nice and shiny, ready for an oiling. Q tips are a must if you own one of these beasts. Has anyone tried blackhorn in theirs?

I've only used Goex in my Dragoon, but after looking up Blackhorn I'm curious to give it a try. I just have my doubts that the local shops carry it.

And 25 grains in one of these horse pistols sounds....well, whats the point? I start at 40 grains, and go up from there. I'm not even sure if the Walker or Dragoon rammer is long enough to give you proper seating with that small of a charge.

CGN comes through again!

A fellow here contacted me a couple days ago, looks like I'm set. He has a Navy Arms Walker he is willing to part with. Might have to sell something first, though. I suppose I should also start learning about how to use these front loaders.

i'd be kind of intrested in one but what are you guys using for balls?- the one i saw years ago in dixie gun works was a 470 bore, and that's not a common ( read cast your own) bore size- i use a 452 SWC IN MY OLD ARMY
