185 scenar in .308.

Anyone have a starting load for 185 scenars in .308? I'm particularly interested in using VV N150.

Lapua reload data center says N550 40.5 gr - 46.9 gr FPS at max load 2608 they mark this combo as a accuracy load at 46.9 gr. For N150 37.3 gr - 42 gr FPS at max load 2575.

I wonder if varget would produce any more velocity?

Longshot, a variety of slower powders with burning rate close to that mentioned will work well with this exceptionally accurate bullet. This was the bullet used to shoot the first 600/60 in international 300 metre comp. We have seen very smal groups using these.

Excellent Peter. I'm making some test loads for a buddy that has a PGW coyote. I'm thinking it should be a very good combo.

Pretty sure R-15 would increase velocity and possibly accuracy, were did you buy those 185... JP.

If you want to match the burn rate for N150 you can use H4350 or RL-17 for N550 IMR4350 or RL-19 will have the same approximate burn rate. I will be getting some Reloader 17 and 19 to try with my 185 Scenars. This information I gathered from Lapua's website from the Download center PDF file Vihtavuuori Reloading Guide.

I use Alliant Reloader 15 (44 gr) OAL 2.68"

Avg FPS 2654 (ten shots max deviation 11fps)

Okay a tad off topic but I have been told that if you want to re create as close to possible the M118LR ammo produced by Lake City using the 175 SMK. You can use 43-43.5 gr of RL 15 this will vary from case to case depending on case capacity. If you pull the LC M118LR you will see powder charge vary lot to lot as they are loading according to a certain MV as this produces the best results in the M24. I will be trying this out in my .308 tommorow let you know how it goes also be trying some 167 gr Scenars.
