Guys, anyone here shoot the 185 hybrids or 200 hybrids in their 308? I am searching for my 1000m load and can't decide between the 185's or 200's, anyone here with some experience?

My shooting partner had a ton of success with the 208 grain AMAX out of his 5R .308. It performed very well for him from 100 yards out to 1000 yards. I am sure he will chime in here shortly.

My Nemesis is great with 208 Amax and R-17 ( 2600 fps) very hot load... Until i found out the 155 gr Lapua Scenars and R-15... JP.

It helps when you text me! haha.

IMO, heavy bullets benefit all around in long range. The only downside is they are slow at the start, but hold more speed, more force, and less wind drift at further distances. At 1000 yards you're pulling over 1000 ft-lbs. Your velocity is also now higher than a 178-180 because of the superior B.C of the heavy grain bullet. (for most bullets anyways, 208AMAX's are ~.630). I launch mine at 2500 FPS. I could push it up to ~2700 FPS but feel no need.

The furthest I've taken it out was 1100yards because of maxing my scope adjustments (action is angled), but it does it without issue. Once I get a 35-45MOA rail I'd have no issues taking it further. (my ATRS rail is on my work desk in front of me right now, awaiting to be modified)

I think they are worth a try. I don't shoot the bullet you are asking about, but I'd try the 200gr and see what results you get and have a enjoyable experiment. Just make sure to match with the proper powder. Heavy = slower powder.

Let the barrel and your shoulder decide. Both are great bullets.

The 200gr Hybrid is becoming the go to option for many FTR shooters BUT it comes with a cost of higher recoil.

Good, bad... that is entirely up to you and your testing.

Also, don't forget the 185gr BT Jaggernaut. That has served many very well over the years and many find it very easy to set up. If mag feeding, this bullet definitely needs to be tested.

AMAX 208's are what i used when i had a .308
I shot my smallest ever 909m group with them out of a Savage 10 BATS-K.
3.2 inches centre to centre for 5 shots. I won't give all the credit to them though.
Cuz i'm the best shooter in the world...Haha
