1853 British Enfield musket

I have a 1860 Tower musket which has the name "A. Backman" engraved in the stock. Would this be the owner of this musket at some point or was there a A. Backman involved in the production of muskets?

It is common to find owners name or initials carved on these old muskets. Usually US soldiers or regular civilian owners of the past. I own a few too. As for contractors names usually nicely engraved on steel or brass part, though not always.
