Trigger pull is Heavy too Heavy. but it is like new little to no wear on the sear I polished it a little and put a little graphite grease on it to help but because of its condition I don't want to fart with it too much . I have polished and altered the 67 and it is very good now.

Dingus, I read with great interest your post about shooting a Remington Model 1871 Army Pistol chambered for the 50-70 centrefire cartridge. Remington originally chambered that cartridge in their Number 1 Rolling Block Rifle. I am not a gunsmith, but if you have access to an original Number 1 Rolling Block Rifle in either sporting or military configuration and you compare it to your Model 1871 Army Pistol, I think you will wonder why Remington put so much more metal into the frames of the rolling blocks made to handle the 50-70. Remington did make a Number 2 Rolling Block which utilized the Model 1871 Army Pistol frame but I believe the largest factory chambering was 44-40.It hurts a little! but its a good kinda hurt
I load the 50 70 case almost full of pyrodex then a wad then a glob of lube then press in a RD ball 50 cal.
Makes a nice ragged hole 1.5 x 5 shot group at 25 yds
They converted these from the short navy 50 cal to 50 70 to use on the plains for Buffalo so as the orignal barrel was worn out shooting 50 70 im not the frist person to do this.
And its fun! most guys are frightened of it tho HaHaHa
I was curious if you altered the breach block on your Model 1871 pistol so the loaded 50-70 cartridge will slip easily into the chamber so you don't have to fool around to force the cartridge trying to clear the breach block.
I know the rolling blocks have a reputation of being a strong action and as I said I am not a gunsmith but you might be tempting fate.

I dont Load the 50 70 Rds like you would in a Rifle for starters.
All i do is fill the case with Pyrodex almost full but with just enough room for a 50 Cal Round ball and a wad pushed into the End of the 50 70 case flush with the cases mouth.
By useing a 50 cal Rd ball it keeps the presure way down!
I would never load a full case of Pyro with a 505 Gr Bullet that would be Dangerous!
All i do to get the cases to clear the Breach block is file a little bit off the Cases rim in one spot at the back of the case and make sure that part is down at 6 oclock when inserting the Cartridge.
They go in easy and come out easy to.
Because there no projectile sticking outa the end of the 50 70 case they will go in and out without fileing the rims ive since found out.
I wont load up normal Bullets with full Pyro Loads only half wheatlets half pro loads.
So its all in the Reloading
All you guys that worry about me blowing my self up can Relax eh!
I know what im doing and am actully a very carfull reloader.

I do great with the 50 cal Rd ball.
I could blow a coon outa a tree at 100 yds no problem LOL well useing a rest that is.
