1880s Rolling Block 20ga

I have a Whitney rolling block 20ga, took it out and can't get the block to close with a round in it. It's a little tight all the way in, but it won't go the last 1/8" no matter how hard I push. I measured the chamber and it clears a 3" shell.

What would you suggest I do? I'd like to do this myself, as I don't get many days off.

Keep in mind that the chamber is cut for a fired hull. So if it measures 3", then a 3" shell will not open fully when fired/fit properly in the gun.

likely as not, it's chambered for the 2inch or may the 2 1/2 inch cartridge.
