So I've got a Chiappa 1887 and it takes a decent amount of pressure to actually break the action open. Gets a bit much on the hand after a while. Once it is cracked open the first few mm it operates smooth like butter, and locks back in very easily. It's just the initial break-open of the breech bolt that I want to loosen up.
I've already taken it apart and polished a few surfaces to attempt to ease the release. I've also softened the tension on the hammer-spring a bit to see if that would help, but I don't want to go too light and get no 'bang'..
Is there anyone here with 1887 knowledge that can point me in the right direction of what I need to be looking at in order to get the result I want.
Ideally i'd like it to break open with the least amount of pressure possible for very fast action and very easy on the hand. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
