Anybody own an 1890 Win with 2 different serials #'s? I do; its in .22 short..................but more importantly some body...at some time has assembled it with the parts from 2 different rifles and I would like to find the matching pieces and hope they are together on a rifle owned by someone on CGN. The serial numbers both have the same first 3 digits and then end in 558 and 402.
I'm wondering if it was once owned by a shooting club [being as its in .22 short] and got assembled with the wrong part. The rifle is in decent shape so don't see any reason why it was put together from parts.
Any help would be appreaciated....please PM me. Thanks..........wTc

I have a Win 62A that has a Win 1890-1903 rear action and mag tube, 2 differret serial#, and did some research and found out this was part of a Winchester cleanup some time in the 1950-60 period. I like mine as the mag tube is case hardened with a blued barrell and the rear action is also case hardened with the front part of the action blued, really neat and works flawlessly, Unfortunately there is no records if your is one of these guns, but if it is a 1890 I believe some of the guns have records available threw the Cody Museum. Don't think I helped you much but maybe someone more versed could help both of us out, dale in T-Bay
