Hello folks..... :)

I need some help with a recent find of an 1891 Argentine Sniper Rifle "SOM Paris" 3x Scope Serial # 85
(Mfg in 1913 by Société d'Optique et de Mécanique, Berthiot)
"One of only 500 purchased in 1913 by the Argentine Arms Commission"

1891 Argentine Sniper Rifle Scope ... (lots more detailed pics)

According to Webster's "Argentine Rifles" book, there's no windage adjustment available on these scopes, but I noticed when looking in the front of the scope, that the lense seems to be offset slightly (cam shaped). The front ring around the lense has two screws holding it, so I wondered if it's actually designed so one can adjust windage. I think it's possible that the two screws on the ring around the front objective, either loosen off and permit one to rotate the lense thereby changing windage, or they actually allow for removal of the front lense components.

The scope is rare and expensive, so I've been reluctant to play around with these screws, just in case they're related to disassembly. I can see me crawling around the rug trying to find them, so I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone else owns one.

Anyone know for sure?

Thanks for the feedback.....

Regards,
Badger
