I have a old Marlin Safety 1893 30-30 take down rifle that has a broken lever right at the joint where it splits into two parts. I have done some looking online and made some phone calls and I'm not able to find this part. wondering is anyone can help me track down this part or even tell me what it's for? Can't get a picture on here for some reason. hopefully soon.

It is the takedown lever. Hard thing to find unless you can find a takedown that is junk and remove the part from it. If you have all the pieces I suggest getting it welded back together then dress it up with files and repolish.

Mike is right. some guys on Marlin Owners.com have been trying for years to find the piece you are looking for with no success. Unfortunately, rebuild/repair or have one made, while expensive, will be the most expedient fix for you.

Just read an excellent thread on Levergun Scounrels about fixing up a takedown joint. Good photos & expanations.
