1894 wtf?

Marlin 1894 has a bolt that slides back and ejects to the side, winchester 1894 is what I'm guessing is the rolling block design, ejects at top. Isn't a1894 supposed to look like all others? Ok never mind, I finally got the Marlin vs Winchester thing

Anybody make a marlin 1894 knockoff? Why is the Winchester so much more popular?

I do believe the Marlin 1893 & 1894's were referred to as closed bolt or closed bolt faces.

Marlin still makes the 1894, no knockoffs I have seen, though Rossi makes a clone of the 336, which is an evolved version of the same action.

It's debatable if the Winchesters are more popular than the marlins. I see about equal numbers of both.

I personally prefer the 336 over the 94, but like the Win 92 at least as much as either.
