1895 Nagant Antique?

I don't see 7.62 Nagant calibre on the CFC no-go list, so, I think the calibre is OK. So, if I find a 1895 Nagant revolver, made before 1898, I should be able to have our friends at CFC declare it Antique. Yes? No? Thanks in advance.

When I spoke with the late Dave Tomlinson and we touched on the 1895 Nagant I was told that he was trying to have it designated as an antique firearm. :confused:
 
Well alot of 1895 Nagants are Antique Firearms

All the ones made before 1898 ;)

I think there hard to date tho ive never tryed.
Low ser # might work but i think i read somewhere they Reused the Ser #s over and over.

unlike the french guns 1873s and 1892s that have the year there made stamped right on the barrels side.

Nagants are dated on the receiver, but finding one dated before 1898 in Canada, pretty hopeless. Closest I ever came was 1899 and I have seen hundreds of them.
 
I can keep and eye out for one Pete.
the Receivers being Dated like JP says then getting a CFC letter should be easy.
Finding one dated before 1898 might be hard tho.

Maybe I'll get another one from "JP" so I don't wear out the one I already have from him, while I"m looking for the Antique one!

They are .310 bore so they can't blackball you as a .32 pistol although Numerich arms sold .32 ACP cylinders for them at one time.......Harold
 
AFAIK, the russians did not make ANY prior to 1898. the only legally antique examples would be the original belgian produced ones (20,000 or something like that).

that would be awesome is all the model 18XX's would be considered legally antiques regardless of manufacture date. something to press for after the registry is gone i think.
 
Thanks MiG25. Not sure what AFAIK means. We weren't really looking for Russian ones, in particular.
