1896 763 Mauser

So any body got a pre 1898 semi-auto antique pistol bolo or broom handle out there I believe they are the model c96 some of these were in production before 1898 and should be considered antique . post some pics if you got one lets hear how it shoots.

Handguns:
manufactured before 1898 that can discharge only rim-fire cartridges, other than 22 Calibre Short, 22 Calibre Long or 22 Calibre Long Rifle cartridges;
manufactured before 1898 that can discharge centre-fire cartridges, other than a handgun designed or adapted to discharge 32 Short Colt, 32 Long Colt, 32 Smith and Wesson, 32 Smith and Wesson Long, 32-20 Winchester, 38 Smith and Wesson; 38 Short Colt, 38 Long Colt, 38-40 Winchester, 44-40 Winchester, or 45 Colt cartridges.

Why ? cartridge is not on the no go list If it is made before 1898 . the fact that it is a repeater would not effect a pistols status only rifles. there cal is 763 mauser

Dave has 4 or more listed on his web site at no fac. ca in Red deer there are only about 13000 that were made before 1898 and they are considered Antique his have been deregistered or lettered by the registry when they were imported . pretty cool a semi auto that is considered antique. but his are expencive but something to look for on gun broker going to need a serial # range to look for

I think the cut off is ser # 10000
And yes the pre 1898 ones are condsidered Antique.

Theres a few Web sites that state the Ser # and dates the guns are made.

I had a Quick Look at that Dave Elliots web site.
His Prices are quite High tho.
Man the prices on CGN for antiques in the EE are Bargins compared to him.
Next time i get someone whineing i will send them there.
Im certin you would get one off a USA web site for half what hes asking.
His web site is intresting.

7.63x25 mauser aka (30 mauser) is still being made commercially by fiocchi in small numbers .

You do raise a good point , it would be nice to have one of the first line production 6 shot Mausers pistols as an antique .

i just made a new post asking this very question.
i think i'm gonna buy it, serial number in the 7000's and priced at $800 (american dollars mind you )
sounds like a good deal. does anyone know where i would find paperwork identifying that this particuler serial number is pre-1898?

Here's a site were you can punch in the number and it will give you the approximate date of when it was manufactured.

Get the seller to field strip the c-96 and take photos to make sure all the serial numbers are matching.
