Does anyone have any info on a 1897 trenchgun shotgun ww2 by winchester. I may have a chance at one but i have no idea as to a value. Any ideas on the value of one in good condition? sorry I don't have any pictures, I was only told it is in good condition with the bayonet.
Thanks.

i would use that to bargain with. like if you cant verify it to be original then assume its fake. with the gun and bayo in really good tight shape and nice markings and finish maybe $1000 would be top max for me if i had the cash around. even the Norc copies they used to make i think would be worth maybe $600?? if you know its real then you could pay lots more and i would get as much info as you could if your going to have big bucks into it.

that's just me.

Until you post clear photos we won't be able to effectively help you. If it's a faked commercial shotgun that someone has converted into a trench gun it will likely only be worth a few hundred bucks... But if it's a legitimate military example, it will be worth more than what's been quoted above. Post war rebuild M97 trench guns routinely sell in the $1500-$2000 range so if it's truly an original untouched WWII example, it will be worth substantially more than that. There are very few originals in Canada so it's tough to say what they're really worth, given that they rarely hit the open market. But, in the United States, examples in superior condition have sold for $10,000-$12,000 at auction. Just look up a few old catalogues from Rock Island if you really want to make your head spin.

The majority of trench guns off there are fake. Cabelas in Edmonton sold one for $5500, that was 100% fake. Get Canfields book.
