1897 winchester clone

I just bought a 1897 winchester clone from marstar ,it's a solid frame design and after cycling alot the action is still stiff on the forward half. So i decided to take it apart and smooth things up but i cannot get the carrier out. I have a original 97 take down version which i can take apart in minutes.The only difference i can see is slide doesn't remove with the barrel. any and all help appreciated
